Questions, answered.

Straight answers on dental practice consulting, AI search visibility, and what it looks like to work together.

Working with Alaska Business Consulting

What does Alaska Business Consulting do?

We help dental practices grow with precision — through leadership alignment, operational efficiency, patient acquisition, and AI search visibility. Engagements range from a focused diagnostic audit to ongoing advisory to a 90-day transformation, and each one is built around your specific practice, numbers, team, and market.

Who do you work with?

Primarily dental practices and their leadership teams — from single-location offices looking to strengthen their fundamentals to groups preparing to scale, add a location, or navigate an ownership transition. Our consulting principles also apply to other owner-led service businesses that need clearer priorities and better execution.

Do you work with practices outside of Alaska?

Yes. While we're based in Anchorage, our advisory and AI visibility work is done remotely and we partner with practices across the country. The strategy call, diagnostics, and monthly sessions all happen over video and phone.

How is a consultant different from a marketing agency?

A marketing agency runs campaigns. We work on the whole business — the leadership alignment, operational systems, financial health, and patient experience that determine whether marketing even pays off. When we do focus on visibility, it's grounded in the fundamentals of the practice, not just ad spend.

AI search visibility

What is AI search visibility, and why does it matter for my practice?

AI search visibility is how likely AI tools — Google's AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and voice assistants — are to recommend your practice when a patient asks who to go to. These tools increasingly answer questions like 'best family dentist near me' with a single recommendation, and if it isn't you, that patient may never see your listing at all. It matters because a growing share of high-intent searches are now answered before the patient ever clicks a link.

Isn't ranking on Google enough anymore?

Not on its own. It's common to rank on page one of Google and still be invisible in the AI answer for the same query, because AI weighs different signals — structured FAQ content, the consistency of your practice information across the web, the language in your reviews, and the completeness of your Google Business Profile. Practices that focus only on classic SEO often rank well and still get skipped by AI.

What signals does AI use to choose which practice to recommend?

In our work we score practices on five signals: authority (credible third-party citations), structure (schema and clean, parseable pages), consistency (matching name, address, phone, and hours everywhere), reviews (volume, recency, and the words patients use), and conversational content (FAQ-style pages that answer real patient questions). A practice strong in all five tends to own the answer in its market.

How long does it take to improve AI visibility?

The quick wins — fixing listing consistency, completing your Google Business Profile, and adding a patient-language FAQ page — can show up in AI answers within a few weeks. The time-based signals like review cadence and authority compound over six to twelve months. Practices that start now tend to get 'pinned' as the recommended answer before competitors catch on.

Can a small practice compete with larger groups for AI visibility?

Often, yes. AI weighs signals like review velocity, citation consistency, and helpful content over raw size or ad budget. A focused single-location practice that consistently does the fundamentals well can out-rank a larger group that has neglected them.

Engagements & getting started

How do we get started?

It starts with a free 30-minute strategy call — a real conversation about your practice, your goals, and where you are right now. From there we recommend the right level of engagement, whether that's a one-time diagnostic audit or an ongoing partnership. There's no obligation and no pressure.

What does an engagement cost?

It depends on scope. A diagnostic audit is a fixed, one-time project; advisory is a monthly partnership; and the transformation program is a larger 90-day intensive. Pricing is set on the strategy call once we understand your practice and what you're trying to achieve, so you only pay for the level of support you actually need.

What's the difference between the audit, advisory, and transformation?

The Practice Growth Audit is a 30-day diagnostic that gives you a prioritized roadmap. Growth Advisory is ongoing monthly strategy and implementation support with KPI tracking. Practice Transformation is a 90-day intensive where we embed deeply to overhaul systems, align the team, and build infrastructure for scalable growth. Many practices start with the audit and continue into advisory.

How quickly will we see results?

Some changes — clarified priorities, listing fixes, an FAQ page — produce results within weeks. Deeper outcomes like sustained revenue growth, stronger team performance, and compounding AI visibility build over a quarter or two. We track leading indicators from the start so you can see progress early, not just at the end.

Do you offer a free consultation?

Yes. The initial 30-minute strategy call is complimentary. You can book it any time by phone at (907) 351-3459 or through the contact page.
